Iskan

Iskan is a permit to use your holiday home. Iskan is a type of occupancy permit that a newly built apartment must have from the authorities before it is allowed to occupy the apartment.

This document, along with the tapu/deed, is one of the most important things when buying a holiday home in Turkey. If you have not received this document during the purchase process of your home, we will be able to help you with this.

Preparing the above document involves, among other things, many visits to several different public offices. At J.O. Dreams you only need to fill out a power of attorney for us and J.O. Dreams will take care of the rest.

There are two relevant types of permits for Iskan. There is what is called an ÖN ISKAN for the entire building, which the developer is responsible for applying for. When issuing an On Iskan, the authorities ensure that the developer has complied with the Building Act, that all employees on the building have received their salaries and insurance, and that the local plan has been complied with. On Iskan is usually paid by the developer.

Then the private Iskan is issued, which is a moving permit that is issued after the On Iskan has been prepared and approved. On Iskan is issued collectively for the entire building, where the private Iskan is issued for an individual apartment.

When buying a holiday home in Turkey, it is a good idea to ask about this document. If they have not yet been prepared, it is important that this point is mentioned in the purchase agreement, so that there are clear lines in relation to responsibility in this regard. It costs approx. 800-1000 TL to have an Iskan prepared. If we are to assist you in this process, we need to receive a copy of the title deed to the property, the names of the title deed holder’s parents, the address of the property, the title deed holder’s Turkish tax number, and a copy of the title deed holder’s passport.
